Join us on a discovery tour through the production facilities of the manufactory. With the “Behind the Scenes Manufactory Tour” you will experience live the artisan creation of porcelain. Our demonstration workshop also brings the world-famous Meissen porcelain to life in 14 languages! Learn about the production process at various workplaces and ask experienced manufactory workers, what you always wanted to know.
Behind the Scenes Manufactory Tour
Our “Behind the Scenes Manufactory Tour” enables you to experience porcelain being crafted by hand live in an authentic Manufactory setting. You will gain comprehensive insights in real manufacturing shops into production routines that include how kaolin is won from our own mine, how porcelain paste is made, how white porcelain is produced and how models and moulds are created and you will also be shown through our vintage Archive of Moulds, our porcelain painting shop and our kiln hall.

MEISSEN offers daily audio-guided tours throught the Demonstration Workshops.
In the Demonstration Workshops, you can learn about the most important artisanal techniques that go into the creation of MEISSEN porcelain. The tour begins at the potter’s wheel and continues on to embossing all the way to under and on glaze painting.
The audio-guided tour through the Demonstration Workshops is also included in the entrance fee. You can always explore the Museum of the Meissen Porcelain Foundation on your own.

Do it yourself!
Are you looking for a very personal gift or want to drink your coffee from a very individual cup?
Then paint your very own personal handle mug or a Vide- Poche bowl during your MEISSEN visit. After your unique piece has been glazed and fired, we will send it directly to your home. For the painting you can choose between a mug and a Vide- Poche bowl. In this way, you round off your visit at MEISSEN with a very personal and unique work of art.

Creative Workshops
From porcelain paste to your very own creation – in Meissen’s creative workshops, up to 12 visitors can discover porcelain as a unique artistic material and try out essential techniques hands-on.
Guided by Meissen’s skilled artisans, you will shape your own porcelain piece in the manufactory’s workshop. You can experiment with forming and moulding, attach small elements such as handles, or add decorative touches like flowers and leaves.
After your workshop, our experts take over the final steps: glazing and firing your piece. Once it has been fired, your finished creation will be carefully packaged and sent to you by post.
