Thematic guided tour of the Porcelain Museum

As well as being famous for its numerous portraits of women, ever since the 18th century the Meissen Manufactory has also been employing the fairer sex. The first female porcelain painters worked in the underglaze and floral decoration departments. Whereas women were a distinct minority at the Manufactory in those days, they now greatly outnumber their male counterparts in all areas of production. The tour takes you on a voyage of discovery, intertwining the stories behind selected exhibits with gripping biographies and affording illuminating glimpses into social history.
